Are you interested in working for a world top 100 University?

We are seeking to appoint to a Research Associate (G7) in Infectious Disease Modelling. The post is within the Health Economics and Decision Science (HEDS) section of the School of Health and Related Research (ScHARR).

This is a chance to work applying mathematical models to the largest ever randomized evaluation of interventions to reduce tuberculosis (TB) burden in high TB and HIV burden settings. The TREATS project is building on the largest ever HIV prevention trial, the HPTN071 (or PopART) trial across 21 communities in Zambia and South Africa, with a total population of over one million people.

This 3-year role is part of an EDCTP-funded international consortium, involving collaboration with investigators in Zambia and South Africa, as well as at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and the University of Oxford. The successful applicant will have strong mathematical or epidemiological background, excellent programming skills, and an ability to communicate across disciplines in order to successfully apply these skills to real-world problems. You should also hold a PhD in either a numerate discipline, with evidence of interest in biological/epidemiological application or epidemiology/biology, with strong evidence of modelling ability. Applications from individuals wishing to change from mathematical fields are welcome. This post builds on our department’s track record of excellence in economic evaluation, and is part of a growing interest in global health.

 You will primarily be working with Dr Pete Dodd in ScHARR, but also with the wider members of the TREATS project, for the, particularly the trialists at Zambart and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, the health economics team at Imperial College London, and the PopART HIV modelling team at Oxford. You will also have a smaller model development role in support of the CaP TB and TB-SPEED Projects on paediatric TB.
