HEDS is part of the School of Health and Related Research (ScHARR) at the University of Sheffield. We undertake research, teaching, training and consultancy on all aspects of health related decision science, with a particular emphasis on health economics, HTA and evidence synthesis.

There are a few abbreviations used that may not be immediately recognisible to visitors, so here is a quick guide:

DSU = Decision Support Unit, a NICE funded research unit based in HEDS.
ScHARR-TAG = ScHARR Technology Appraisal Group, a NICE funded group based in HEDS that produces the reports that underpin NICE Technology Appraisals.
PHCC = Public Health Collaborating Centre, a NICE funded group that produces the reports that underpin NICE Public Health Appraisals.
EEPRU = Economic Evaluation Policy Research Unit, a collaborative research Unit between the Universities of Sheffield and York (more specifically, HEDS and CHE).
NICE = Work relating to the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence.
Non_programme_projects = New projects that fall outside of the DSU, ScHARR-TAG, PHCC, EEPRU research programmes.
Project_briefing = A short summary of the current state of an important project (when we find time to write one!)
Commentary = Ideas and observations by senior staff members regularly posted..
Headlines = When our work makes the national or international news.
Teaching = Teaching related information.
Miscellany = Miscellaneous items.
Policy = News, opinion and gossip relating to health policy
