NICE processes reviewed

NICE has undertaken a review of the Guides to the multiple (MTA) and single (STA) Technology Appraisals processes. The document is a guide for all organisations and individuals involved in a technology appraisal and describes the full processes of Technology Appraisal.  The draft guide is now open for consultation until Friday 28 March 2014, 5.00pm.

The main changes are highlighted in the draft document and appear to be focused around topic selection and reviews.  However, the section on flexible pricing is not highlighted despite it being based around the new Pharmaceutical Price Regulation Scheme (PPRS).

Note this serves a quite different purpose from the recent review of Technology Appraisal methods that was completed last year with the publication of an updated guide.  This guide relates to the process, within which the technology appraisal is embedded.
