Extrapolation wars!

As reported on the HEDS Blog previously, two different views of extrapolation have been recently published; first Latimer, then Bagust and Beale (BB).  Latimer’s reponse to the BB paper has now been published and the intro is given below:

“The paper by Bagust and Beale is welcome; further research into methods for extrapolating trial data for use in economic evaluations is important. However, Bagust and Beale’s criticism of Latimer reflects several misconceptions, and although their alternative represents a potentially valid extrapolation approach, they do not discuss critical limitations associated with it”
