HEDS is part of the School of Health and Related Research (ScHARR) at the University of Sheffield. We undertake research, teaching, training and consultancy on all aspects of health related decision science, with a particular emphasis on health economics, HTA and evidence synthesis.

EUnetHTA Consultation on methodology guidelines for Relative Effectiveness Assessment of Pharmaceuticals

The primary objective of these methodology guidelines is to focus on methodological challenges that are encountered by HTA assessors while performing a rapid relative effectiveness assessment of pharmaceuticals.  In total, 9 guidelines on methodological issues are being produced:

Clinical endpoints;
Composite endpoints;
Surrogate endpoints;
Safety;
Health related quality of life (HRQoL);
Criteria for the choice of the most appropriate comparator(s);
Direct and indirect comparisons;
Internal validity;
Applicability.

The current consultation covers topics 2, 3, 6 and 9 and is open between 29 June and 10 September 2012.  The next public consultation for   remaining topics is planned to be held between August 27 and October 30, 2012.
