NICE Technical Support Documents published by the DSU

The first of the NICE Decision Support Unit (DSU) technical support documents (TSDs) has been published.  The first series relates to Evidence Synthesis, with documents covering a general linear modelling framework for pair-wise and network meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials, inconsistency in networks of evidence based on randomised controlled trials and embedding evidence synthesis in probabilistic cost effectiveness analysis.

The documents have been commissioned by NICE with the aim of providing further information about how to implement the approaches described in its current Guide to the Methods of Technology Appraisal. The TSDs provide a review of the current state of the art in each topic area and make clear recommendations on the implementation of methods.

The DSU, based within HEDS, will be publishing further series relating to utilities, reviewing model parameters and survival analysis shortly.
