National Screening Committee policy on Alcohol Problems screening in adults

This policy is being reviewed by the UK NSC and their expert review is open to consultation until 29 March 2011.  As it stands, the summary conclusion is that “there is no evidence to support the systematic screening of either the whole population or sub-sets of the population for alcohol problems.”
Much of the work within the document will be familar to ScHARR and HEDS staff as it states that “For this review we have used as a baseline the report by the School of Health and Related Research, Sheffield University (2010) that informed the NICE guidance.”
