HEDS is part of the School of Health and Related Research (ScHARR) at the University of Sheffield. We undertake research, teaching, training and consultancy on all aspects of health related decision science, with a particular emphasis on health economics, HTA and evidence synthesis.

Latest MIB

No, not Men in Black, it’s the NICE Medtech Innovation Briefings (MIBs).  The MIBs
review relevant published evidence and the likely costs of new technologies. They are designed to be fast, flexible and responsive to the need for information on innovative technologies.  MIBs are commissioned by NHS England.

In the first quarter of 2016, the following briefings have been published.

  • TactiCath Quartz catheter for percutaneous radiofrequency ablation in atrial fibrillation
  • ThermoCool SmartTouch catheter for percutaneous radiofrequency ablation in atrial fibrillation
  • TheraSphere for treating operable and inoperable hepatocellular carcinoma
  • SIR-Spheres for treating inoperable hepatocellular carcinoma
