HEDS is part of the School of Health and Related Research (ScHARR) at the University of Sheffield. We undertake research, teaching, training and consultancy on all aspects of health related decision science, with a particular emphasis on health economics, HTA and evidence synthesis.

Cochrane Collaboration update

New and updated Cochrane Reviews highlighted on their website this month are:
  • First-line drugs inhibiting the renin angiotensin system versus other first-line antihypertensive drug classes for hypertension
  • Procalcitonin, C-reactive protein, and erythrocyte sedimentation rate for the diagnosis of acute pyelonephritis in children
  • Exercise for treating patellofemoral pain syndrome
  • Antibiotic prophylaxis for preventing infectious complications in orthognathic surgery
  • Pressure-controlled versus volume-controlled ventilation for acute respiratory failure due to acute lung injury (ALI) or acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS)
