Visiting researcher

Isabelle Mairey, a PhD. student from Centre of Health Economic Research (COHERE), University of Southern Denmark, is currently at HEDS on a three month research visit. Her interests are within health economics, health technology assessment and health behaviour. Praveen Thokala will be the main contact during her visit.

Isabelle’s PhD is part of a Danish telehealth project, “Ahead in health (AIH) - a cross sectoral

telehealth Hot-spot for selected chronicles groups”, initiated by the Municipality of Horsens and Hospital Unit Horsens in Denmark. The aim of the project is to create a coherent healthcare system and to promote patient empowerment for patients diagnosed with COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), diabetes, heart failure patients and geriatric patients.

During her visit, Isabelle will be working on trial based economic evaluation as well as modelling the long-term cost-effectiveness of the AIH multi-sectorial telehealth intervention. She will also be analysing health behaviour among participants focusing on how time preference and risk tolerance affect compliance.  Preliminary results will be presented at a seminar at the end of her visit.  She will be at HEDS until the 17th of December. If you are interested in meeting her, please send an email to I.Mairey@sheffield.ac.uk.
