Aki Tsuchiya, Professor of Health Economics in ScHARR and the Department of Economics, will be giving her inaugural lecture on Wednesday, 13 June, 2012, entitled: 'Is More Health Always Better?'
Economics typically assumes that more of a good thing is better than less of a good thing. Health Economics is no exception, and typically assumes that more health is better than less health. However, what if all the additional health went to the already healthy, so that inequality in health worsened? Aki Tsuchiya will draw on her research to examine how economics can contribute towards a more equitable (as well as efficient) allocation of health care resources
