HEDS is part of the School of Health and Related Research (ScHARR) at the University of Sheffield. We undertake research, teaching, training and consultancy on all aspects of health related decision science, with a particular emphasis on health economics, HTA and evidence synthesis.

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals (STH) research & innovation e-bulletin

With income in excess of £800m per annum and 2165 overnight beds, STH is the largest hospital Trust in England.  This edition of their bi-monthly e-bulletin brings news of a successful bid by Sheffield's Clinical Research Facility to receive £3.1m of government funding to support experimental medicine research, the official unveiling of the EULAR Centre of Excellence in Rheumatology by Nick Clegg, and the launch event of the new Sheffield Cancer Research Centre.

Also included is news of two studies that are being undertaken with HEDS.  Titled “New devices could hold key to predicting premature births” and “Major trial gives hope to motor neurone disease sufferers” these studies are being led in HEDS by Simon Dixon.
