GP performance indicator consultation

The Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) process that is used to determine GP payment in England and Wales is being reviewed and the new indicators are open to consultation. There are 20 potential new indicators across chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), heart failure, secondary prevention of coronary heart disease (CHD), diabetes: erectile dysfunction, depression, diabetes: lipid management, hypertension, rheumatoid arthritis, asthma and cancer.

As well as being important incentives to improve the clinical and cost-effectiveness of primary care services, the QOF data are a valuable resource for researchers as pratice level QOF data are publically available.

The consultation is now open for a four week period from Monday 9 January and will close at 5.00pm on Monday 6 February 2012.
