HEDS is part of the School of Health and Related Research (ScHARR) at the University of Sheffield. We undertake research, teaching, training and consultancy on all aspects of health related decision science, with a particular emphasis on health economics, HTA and evidence synthesis.

The Winter edition of the HEDS Newsletter is out

Autumn is shaping up quite nicely, the leaves have turned golden brown, there is a crispness in the morning air and we are already looking forward to nights in front of the fire with a hot cup of Horlicks (other night time milky beverages are available). This time of the year also means our final edition of the HEDS newsletter for 2016. This month's cover is of Professor John Brazier with Paul Bloomfield MP at a Westminster launch of the ReQoL  patient reported outcome measure earlier this month. 

We also celebrate The Decision Support Unit successfully renewing its contract till 2019 so it can continue to carry out the highly influential work on Technical Support Documents and the NICE Technology Appraisal Programme’s Methods Guide. It also serves to keep us at the forefront of methodological research and policy development.

We give an update on our established MOOCs, important methodological work on model structuring by Hazel Squires, new Fellowships on predicting future outcomes and cancer modelling for Ben Kearns and Rachid Rafia, and a summary of our presentations and workshops at ISPOR.
